Seeking Upgrade to HD

Mad River Valley TV Eyes Upgrade to HD – Receives Grant From Rotary Club

12/18/18 – For Immediate Release:

Mad River Valley TV has received a $1,000 grant from the Mad River Valley Rotary Club. The grant money will be used by the local public access station to help purchase equipment needed to broadcast in HD (high definition). Currently, MRVTV broadcasts in SD (standard definition) and is available to Waitsfield Cable subscribers on channels 44 and 45.

“Today the majority of television viewers have HD programming, including those in the Mad River Valley,” said Keith Berkelhamer, Executive Director of the station. “It has become the standard form used to broadcast and view TV. To stay relevant and keep free speech and our great community asset, Mad River Valley TV, alive and well, we would like to invest in equipment to upgrade from SD to HD.”

According to Berkelhamer, the improved picture quality and production value will attract more people who will want to contribute content, a benefit to community members since more organizations and individuals will be sharing their knowledge, opinions and experiences.

The total cost of the equipment upgrade is $60,000 and the non-profit organization will be kicking off a crowdfunding campaign next year to help raise additional funds. Until then, individuals who would like to contribute to this fundraising effort are encouraged to visit https://mrvtv.com/donate/.
